Autoresponders - What are they and how to use them


Many entrepreneurs are confused about what exactly is an automatic response. . . And what is not.

An autoresponder is a piece of software - either standalone or as part of something bigger like a shopping cart - which automatically sends an e-mail, or a sequence of e-mail when activated.

"On" in this case means:

someone purchases a product or service or on-line
someone or send an email to a specific address
someone or fill out a "name and email" form on-line and sign up for a newsletter, a teleseminar, etc.
contacts of someone or learn more about your business

Once activated, the system sends the autoresponder email sequence was established. For example:

If you go on vacation, you can tell your e-mail system to declare: "I am currently out of office until the X and will respond when I return." - If you realize it or not, this is a simple autoresponder. It is automatically sent to people you mail while on vacation.

A more complex but also simple to configure, autoresponder, it may look like this:

Today: client purchases your latest ebook in minutes and receive two emails: one from your shopping cart with a receipt for their payment (autoresponder that goes out without having to configure it as a feature of most shopping carts) and a second from your autoresponder (you created) thanking them for their purchase and providing the link where you can download the ebook.

2 days from today: the client automatically receives an e-mail asking if they had the link is fine and if you have any questions.

4 days from today: the client automatically receives an e-mail asking if they have taken the important piece of information you shared on page X.

And so on. . . Write the above sequence once and the automated response system will be sent out every time someone buys that particular product.

We see that once again - you write it once and the automated response system automatically sends out every time you purchased the product, if today, tomorrow or the New Year 04:00. Talk to your business on autopilot!

Even knowing the above, autoresponders are one of the great untapped resources of small business today.

In addition to the above, there are several other ways you can use autoresponders in your follow-up with customers and prospects, as a lead generator and also as an assistant.
